Why aren't we talking about this?

Why aren't we talking about this?

It can save the lives of the terminally ill, the mentally ill and the suicidal alike, yet so few talk about it.

Why aren't we talking about this?

(I almost titled this WHY AREN'T WE TALKING ABOUT THIS? ... then decided the ALL CAPS were a little harsh. Now seriously: )

What would you do to save the life of a loved one?

What would you do to save the life of a stranger?

What would you do to save your own life?

And really: What can you do?

Do you know your options?

Or have you simply been advised and accepted that your current options meet the limits of your options?

I am not here to question the good intentions of your advisor, advisors anywhere, or the range of options available to you. I am however moved by how few people know about options that are often beyond the commonly offered ranges of options.

During my break from book writing, it hits me like a ton of bricks that this matter needs to be shared; these options often beyond commonly offered ranges of options needs addressing.

Why do so few people talk about it?

I know of a handful of lives that could have been saved if more people talked about it, in retrospect alas.

I know of a handful of lives that have been saved, or more to be sure without having all the inside scoop of the nitty-gritty details, if more people talked about it.

As the world and our reality is as it is, I do not feel it appropriate to talk about it directly in such a public address. Still, I cannot NOT talk about!

My first child might still be alive if more people talked about it.

My childhood best friend who died too soon might still be alive.

Your father might still be alive.

We might still be together.

The cruel injustices and sufferings of lives might be lessened, if more people talked about it.

Now, while talking about it directly is not on the agenda, I can talk about it in these terms:

It can save the lives of those who are living with cancer AND their loved ones.

It can save the lives of those who are psychotic AND their loved ones, and strangers – for example, if a school shooting doesn’t take place because someone talked about.

It can save the lives of those living with sickle cell…

If someone talked about it.

I talk about it all the time now that my own life has been saved more than once.

It saved my life more than once this week. Just today, as a matter of fact.

Still, I don’t understand: Why do so few talk about it?

After it saved my life today, I was inspired to organize a three-day workshop and monthly-subscription based mastermind to talk about it more.

The more I planned and went about my day much better than any in the past two weeks, much better than I ever imagined possible, the burning question persistently nagged like a mother trying to get a son to clean up his room:

Why aren’t more people talking about this?
